From first step on the brown lawns,
I feel him drawing near,
I know, I smell, I see him,
I breathe him in, I hear,
I loose my straight direction,
My starting place forgot,
Wipe out my destination
'Till I always knew it not.
I guess I'll never rid myself
Of that seducing call,
That comes from down my hungry soul,
From up the tree-tops tall,
He says: "If you would follow,
You'd be within my core,
I'd change your human spirit
To the goddess you adore!"
And as I find my shelter,
Reluctantly, but sad,
I cannot help but wonder
What had happened if he had.
